Senior Geophysicist

You will be supporting our water resources development projects as well as our mining project. You will perform technical and supervisory work requiring attainments and knowledge of seismic processing and general familiarity with borehole seismic modeling and imaging fields. You will conduct and evaluate approaches so as to meet the project objectives in a timely fashion and he will provide technical support to Clients and other engineers. This role requires at least 7 years experience, solid communication skills (written & verbal) in English, an aptitude for learning the technical details of our equipment, and attention to detail. Responsibilities include:

  • Build an interface between team geologists and hydrogeologists, geophysical service companies and the client
  • Develop requirements for geophysical work based on conceptual geological models and existing data
  • Design, supervise and discuss survey results with field geophysicists
  • Integrate geophysical information into our geological and hydrogeological conceptual models
  • Reporting and client liaison
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have most or all of the following qualifications:

  • Strong background in geophysical methods used for characterization of the first 700 m
  • English is a must, Spanish language knowledge is an advantage
  • Fluent English with capability in Spanish
  • Good communication skills, including report and presentation

Support Specialist

Description:

This is a dynamic, communication-based position offering the ideal candidate an opportunity to become a recognized expert in the application of hydrogeologic software for groundwater modeling, data management as well as pumping test and geochemical analysis.  As a Technical Support Specialist, you will primarily address software related questions regarding the use and navigation of our software products.  Your knowledge and experience in hydrogeology and environmental engineering or other related fields will allow you to review and assess the technical details of each client inquiry and respond with the appropriate solution(s).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responding to technical software questions via phone, fax, email or online.
  • Assisting clients with projects through our Extended Support services.
  • Reporting software defects or suggested improvements to the development team.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and offering on-site installation and/or software training.
  • Acting as a lab assistant for our professional courses held globally.
  • Offering technical assistance and resources to our offices world wide.
  • Preparing software installations for distribution to clients and authorized distributors.
  • Maintaining version control of software available through a corporate FTP site.
  • Assisting in documentation and testing of all software products
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have many of the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of physical hydrogeology or related discipline.
  • Experience in the application of numerical models (MODFLOW, MT3D, PEST).
  • Knowledge of database structures (SQL, MS Access, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft products.
  • Ability to think quickly and adapt to a changing environment.
  • University or college education.
Preference will be given for anyone with first-hand knowledge and experience with any Waterloo Hydrogeologic Software (WHS) products.  These include Visual MODFLOW, Hydro GeoAnalyst, AquiferTest, AquaChem, UnSat Suite, etc.
